Jon Webb
Jon is a veteran of the US Army and an accomplished nuclear reactor engineer with aproven track record of leadership in terrestrial and space applications. With a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and years of experience managing advanced reactor development, he has contributed to critical projects, including NASA’s Fission Surface Power program and the design of high-temperature power reactors. As Program Manager at Idaho National Laboratory, he played a pivotal role in guiding reactor innovation efforts, from modular systems to space propulsion, while aligning multidisciplinary teams to achieve technical and strategic objectives. Dr. Webb also served as the program manager for the Marvel reactor, a safe micro-reactor concept, based on the SNAP-2 and SNAP-8 reactors. Jon held other positions in the nuclear industry including reload analysis for LWR reactors and the development of Cr2O3-doped UO2 accident tolerant fuels at AREVA NP.
In addition, Dr. Webb’s Doctoral work was on the development of high-temperature refractory nuclear fuels for applications in nuclear thermal rocketry. He also has a significant background in systems engineering and complex systems integration for defense applications. He served as a Chief Engineer for Northrop Grumman’s Sentinel program, responsible for the entire command and control technical baseline while leading a team of over 600 engineers and subcontractors. His leadership extends to technical oversight in cyber security, communications systems, power systems, and nuclear hardness and survivability, where he has directed teams to ensure the resilience of critical defense systems in extreme environments. Combining deep technical expertise with practical leadership, he continues to advance innovations in nuclear technology and aerospace systems for national security and exploration.
